Description

The first Flight to Freedom of 2024 lifts off on January 16! The Animal Rescue Site, in partnership with Greater Good Charities’ Good Flights program, is flying over 58 dogs and 14 cats out of overcrowded shelters in Alabama and Louisiana to new homes in Wisconsin. We’re grateful for all your generous support, which will help get these lucky pets one step closer to finding their forever homes!

The animals on this flight are at-risk pets; without the flight, they might never find their loving homes due to the overcrowding that often happens in shelters. Sending these pets from under-resourced shelters to shelters with empty space in Wisconsin will give them the second chance at life AND the adoption they deserve.

Meet some of the pet passengers on this month’s flight:

Meet Chevy-Man!

Chevy-Man arrived as a stray with a broken leg after being hit by a car. His back leg was amputated due to being broken at the knee, and including some pelvic fractures.

Only having 3 legs does not stop him though, he is so clumsy and gets so excited. He loves treats and loves being outside.

He is one of the lucky passengers on this month’s flight and can’t wait to find a home.

Meet Tom!

The sweet fella arrived as a stray suffering from an eye condition that causes his eyelids to flip the wrong direction. Tom will get the help he needs and find a forever home in Wisconsin.

Meet Rouge!

Rouge got her name because she was found abandoned on a road that runs along the Mississippi River through Baton Rouge.

She will leave Louisiana behind and start her new life in Wisconsin.

The shelter shared, “Rouge is red, and in French, Baton Rouge means Red Stick. We hope the french spirit that is so ingrained in Baton Rouge will help us wish all the best for Rouge on her brighter future.”

Meet Honey Baby !

“Honey Baby….just the thought of him finally leaving is so special. We are so very, very grateful that this sweet good dog is being saved. Honey Baby was picked up as a “stray” and never claimed. He was found in an area where the backyard breeding of pit bulls is rampant. The animal control officer pulled up and Honey Baby walked over to the officer with an almost friendly grin. Honey is cross eyed, and kinda smiles.”

He is ready to find someone to love.

Every month we fly a group of deserving pets. Help us fund January’s Flight to Freedom now! Just $5, helps cover the fuel costs of flying a pet 125 miles towards safety.

In shelters across the country, highly adoptable dogs and cats are euthanized just because the shelters are overcrowded. In other areas, shelters have a shortage of adoptable pets. We’re transporting these pets to shelters where they’re immediately adopted.

This month’s Good Flight will transport at-risk dogs and cats to safety!
